Tommy Wayne (T.C.) Cannon (1946-1978) was one of the most influential American Indian artists of the 20th century, a fact made even more amazing due to his extremely short life cut short in its prime by a tragic auto accident. Cannon rocketed to fame along with fellow Indian artist, Fritz Scholder, in the Smithsonian Institution’s 1972 exhibit “Two Artists” which forever changed everyone’s idea of what American Indian art could be.
