In Footloose (1984), Ren (Kevin Bacon) discovers that he can host the dance at the Mill since the fire department, and therefore the town, doesn’t have jurisdiction past the train tracks. This is a foreshadow of Chuck’s downfall at the dance as he is the son of the fire department chief.
