Chimpanzees seen clapping, tapping and swaying along to piano rhythms, spontaneously without training or reward, in a new study in PNAS, suggesting that the urge to dance has a prehuman origin, reaching at least as far back as the primate from which humans and chimps descended around 6m years ago.
