Certain personality traits protect brain structures against neuro-degeneration. Among them, people who are less agreeable but with a natural curiosity and little conformism show better preservation of the brain regions that tend to lose volume, both in normal aging and in Alzheimer's disease.

Depression linked to nutrition in middle-aged and older Canadians. Lower intakes of fruits and vegetables were found to be linked to depression. Men were more likely to experience depression if they consumed higher levels of fat, or lower levels of omega-3 eggs.

Study links sleep-disordered breathing to age acceleration. Results show that each standard deviation increase in the apnea-hypopnea index, a measure of sleep-disordered breathing severity, was associated with the equivalent of 215 days of biological age acceleration

As plaque deposits increase in the aging brain, money management falters. Testing revealed that specific financial skills declined with age and at the earliest stages of mild memory impairment. The decline was similar in men and women.

Unsupportive, cold parenting linked to premature aging, increased disease risk in offspring, with telomeres of subjects who considered their mothers' parenting style as "cold" were on average 25% smaller compared to those who reported having a mother whose parenting style they considered "warm."
