Stress may drive people to give as well as receive emotional support. On average, participants were more than twice as likely to either give or receive emotional support on days they experienced a stressor. They were 26 percent more likely to give or receive support the following day.

Seven seconds of Spiderman viewing yields a 20% phobia symptom reduction. Screening a seven-second excerpt of a spider scene from Spiderman 2 reduced participants' post-viewing spider phobia (arachnophobia) symptoms score relative to their pre-viewing score by 20%.
