A new modeling study estimates that, based on changes in consumer behavior, added-sugar labeling on all U.S. packaged foods could prevent 35,500 new obesity-related cancer cases and 16,700 cancer deaths over a lifetime in the U.S. It would also save an estimated $1.4 billion in direct medical costs.

Minors seeking abortion without parental consent (in states that require it) face denial and humiliation in court. This study demonstrates that young people are harmed by the denial of judicial bypass, which effectively eliminates access to abortion, with potentially life-long impacts.

New research identifies gene, DUX4, that hides cancer cells from immunotherapy. Over expression of DUX4 is also the cause of genetic disease, Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD). Finding a way to inhibit DUX4 would benefit early detection and more for cancer but could also eliminates FSHD.
