TIL Bees can sense the Electric fields of Flowers. Videos show that when the positively charged bee arrives at the negatively charged flower...pollen literally jumps from the flower to the bee. The bee may fly over to the flower but at close quarters, the flower also flies over to the bee.

TIL When it gets too hot in Australia, the nectar in certain flowers will ferment and turn into alcohol. These bees get "drunk" and are not allowed back into the hive before they sober up.

TIL, a graduate student studying bees at Cornell University, was stung on his testicles while wearing loose pants and experienced little pain. TIL Bees can produce coloured “honey”. Beekeepers in northeastern France noticed that their bees were producing honey in unnatural shades of green and blue. The reason turned out to be that the bees had been eating remnants of M&M candy shells from a nearby factory.

TIL- Bees don't buzz during an eclipse - Using tiny microphones suspended among flowers, researchers recorded the buzzing of bees during the 2017 North American eclipse. The bees were active and noisy right up to the last moments before totality. As totality hit, the bees all went silent in unison.

TIL that scientists in Tel Aviv have found that soon after a bee flies past an Evening Primrose, the flower increases the sugar content of its nectar by 30%. Playing bee sounds has a similar effect, but there is no effect on the flower when other vibrations are emitted.
