TIL The massive ancient library of Ninevah (think: Mesopotamian equivalent of the library of Alexandria) was burnt by the Medes. Unlike a library containing organic documents, the fires treated the ~30,000 clay tablets and preserved the cuneiform text very well rather than destroying it.

TIL the Great Pyramid at Giza is the oldest of the Seven Wonders and the only one still standing today. The Colossus of Rhodes, the Lighthouse of Alexandria, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Temple of Artemis, the Statue of Zeus were destroyed. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon is still unknown.
