TIL: A Swedish king, Gustav III, believed coffee was so bad for you that he once set up a human experiment to prove it. He ‘forced’ a prisoner to drink coffee 3 times a day, believing it would kill him in a matter of weeks. The prisoner outlived the king and the doctors appointed to oversee him.

TIL that Turkey Vultures have been & sometimes are still used to detect natural gas leaks from pipelines; the odor that gas companies add to gas (so we can detect it since it's odorless) is the same as rotting flesh, which leads the vultures to congregate in the sky in the area of the leak.
